Carl Recchia was a midfielder who played for South Melbourne in three separate stints, first in the National Soccer League, and then in state level competition.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, Recchia first played for South Melbourne in the final season of the National Soccer League; he also went on the 2004 tour of China while the club was in administration.
In 2005 Recchia played for Fawkner-Whittlesea, before being part of Melbourne Victory's inaugural A-League squad. Following an unsuccessful stint with Queensland Roar, Recchia returned to Victoria, where he had considerable success with Altona Magic.
In 2010 Recchia signed with South for his second stint. Playing in the majority of games in both 2010 and 2011 - including every match in both of South's Singapore Cup campaigns - at the end of the season Recchia left the club for a second time, joining the newly promoted (and re-named) Moreland Zebras.
Returning to South in 2013 after his season with Moreland Zebras, Recchia suffered a season-ending knee injury during the pre-season which saw him miss the whole of the 2013 campaign. After the end of the 2013 season Recchia left the club for a third time, joining Pascoe Vale.
